Gulf District Schools Superintendent Jim Norton confirmed that Chance Gainer, an 18-year-old wide receiver and defensive back at Port St. Joe High School, died following the away game at Liberty County High School.
A verified GoFundMe page created to support Gainer's family described the teen as a "star athlete" and a "well loved classmate."
But this step, we know we can only take it if we are in the Eredivisie and connected to the style Wim is teaching the players - we think that combination and the storytelling of all these talents who go a long way after being in Volendam, that can really help grow the club.
High school football has never been faster, stronger, more physical or more skilled. It is connected to the fiber of our country unlike any sport.
High school football players push their limits daily. They rise early for practice, refining skills and strategies. With every snap, they aim for victory. Teammates bond, forging lifelong friendships. Balancing academics and athletics, they build discipline. Each game teaches resilience, teamwork, and leadership. Future dreams grow.
According to the school district update, "this citation was issued as a result of the investigation, but is not related to the original assault allegation."
Yet here we are right after Labor Day, contemplating another rash of tragedies in high school football. With those tragedies come another set of well-meaning people and communities wondering what, if anything, they could have done to prevent it.
